The birth of baby Deniz {birth photography}

I know I haven't posted on this blog in like half a year, but I recently photographed this birth, and I'm just way too excited about it to let it slip through the cracks like so much other stuff. This is the second time I've been able to photograph a birth and I'm hoping they'll be many more! I've just found myself so drawn to this experience.

Duygu and Yusuf are the sweetest couple. The moment I met them (and their little guy Derin), I felt so comfortable with them. Yusuf looks a little like Shawn to me and I think Duygu is one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen, and both of them just have a calm and sincere way about them. As I listened to Duygu talk about what the birth of her second child means to her, I was so struck by her sensitivity to life (and beyond thrilled that I would get to capture this for them).

So here they are, welcoming little baby Deniz into the world.

Three Generations Family Shoot

Merdad and Geneva met at an airport in a country neither of them were from. By the day's end, he'd asked her to marry him! And here they are, two kids, two grand-kids, and and a whole bunch of years later. I had the joy of photographing these three generations a few months ago, as they played around the house, cheated at Dominoes (a long-standing family tradition), and laughed at one another.

This was doubly fun for me because I got to see Mitra (their daughter) and Matt again. I photographed the two of them and their three fabulous dogs several years ago, so it was great to catch up with them!

And the delicious Iranian food they fed me certainly didn't hurt in making it an even better shoot!

Casa de Santos

I did a little family shoot for my dear friends, the Santoses (which none of us ever really figured out the right way to say- Santos-es, Santi, Santos's, so they became Casa de Santos at some point years ago). And we spent most of the casa-de-Santos shoot indeed just lounging around the casa. In particular I kept trying to find reasons to get everyone on their brand new king-size Tempur-Pedic bed. Holy Moly, that thing made it hard to work; I just wanted to fall asleep right then and there. Anyway, from here on out I will now accept payment in pieces of Tempur-Pedic mattress.

And maybe even slightly more charming than that mattress, these kids and their dimples. Love these guys!

Little Charlie is one of Berkeley's best friends. I'll have to keep this pic around so she can use it to tease him on facebook someday when he's captain of the soccer team :)

lil' newborn Morgan and her pug, Paris

I realize that blogging once every quarter is not very effective, but so it goes :) I just keep finding myself too busy to share images of any of the busyness!

But this little beauty couldn't get left out! I photographed Morgan last month when she was less than a week old, and I think her parents might have been worried I was gonna steal her cause I spent most of the photo shoot just looking for reasons to hold her! (Man, that is such a heavenly sensation). But in between holds I did manage to take some pictures of her as well.

And we couldn't forget her big sister, Paris the Pug (aka, the first child).
