Day Thirteen: Arrive in Yantai, Bus to Qufu, and the night market

We paid some extra money to be able to sleep in on the boat for a few hours Saturday morning, but still had to be off as the sun was rising.
At this point we decided that there really wasn't much to see in Rizhao and Wang Yan and Wen Wen would be busy anyway so Gordon and I would go to QuFu for 2 days while they went to Rizhao and then we would meet up again in Beijing. Wang Yan had become really interested in Confucianism lately and wanted us to be able to go to QuFu since that was his birth, life, and death place. So with the assistance of these helpful signs we bought some bus tickets and took an 8 hour ride to QuFu on the Purple Dragon.

We got there late in the afternoon and again while trying to avoid all the huairens and look like we know where were going even though we totally don't, we met this nice guy named "wayne" who spoke great English and was excited for the opportunity to talk to us. He helped us get away from all the huairens and then we showed him in our book the hotel we were tying to get to. He said he knew exactly where it was and would walk with us there . . . but he walked us around town with our 20 pound bags on, and in rather warm weather (we are much farther south now) like a mile out of the way even though I showed him on my map that I thought we should go the other way. I think he maybe wanted to practice English for as long as he could :) oh well - we got there.

We had to go to a few different hotels in order to get a descent price. Afterwards we went to the night market to get some dinner. There are tons of little stands like this where you just pick from everything they have out and they cook it for you there.
Here I am having a delicious meal of Huang Dou (my 3rd fav) and some common green vegi with garlic that I also love. Huang Dou is another thing I have tried to make and just never turns out right. For some reason when I try to sprout them they start to go bad before their tail gets to be the right length. If anyone knows the trick to sprouting soybeans please let me know!!
Anyway, unfortunately we got full on those other dishes before we knew that we could have ordered these instead.

Walking back through the market Gordon can never resist stopping at the little dongxi (thing) stands and studying all of their dongxi's.
This super cute couple was staring at us so I started talking to them and they ended up being so nice; they even bought me this little ceramic figurine of a naked man that pees out of his wee wee when you put water in him.

After thst we went and got some fabulous massages and were ready for bed.
